I was home alone late one night
with the laptop light just chopping up a rim-shot
I was done now the beat was tight but when the room went quiet man
could’ve heard a pin drop
heard a creak from a fence out by the gate
went to the window, best investigate
no-one around so I closed up the curtains
and went over to lock the back door for certain
I went to put the keyring back on the peg
when I felt something rubbing across my leg
I felt the hairs on my neck get curlier
was just a bag of tunes that I bought earlier
Now I’m cool and my mind is stable
I grabbed the bag and went over to the turntables
It reminded me of a few hours before
I’d felt followed ever since I’d left my door
it got so bad had to make a stop
in a quick chop hopped in a record shop
I started flicking thru this pile of chart boys
when all of a sudden a white label of Hardnoise?
I took it to the till gave him the money
He just look dazed and gazed at me funny
I took a look outside it was all clear then I said to myself
Ok lets get out of here
But as I got to my door, hands wringing with sweat. keys fell to the floor
As I knelt down and scrambled round I felt my heart stop as I heard the sound
of footsteps?
Now I’m not a God-fearer but I yelled Jesus as it got nearer
I snatched up the keys shivering with the shock
off my knees and stabbed around for the lock
I said "come on!". my hopes were faded
in with a quick twist I finally made it
I sank back against the door my legs spread. felt the rush of blood draining from my head
I’m glad it never ended up getting gory, well obviously not 'cos I’m here with this story
so let’s crack open that bag and check the tune
It’s been there by the door since the afternoon
I’ve poured a stiff drink and now I’ve sank the cup
